Our “Why”
In 2018, I made one of the biggest and most rewarding decisions of my life—I chose to homeschool my daughter. It wasn’t just about education; it was about creating an environment where learning could be fun, engaging, and truly meaningful every single day.
Growing up, I was a straight-A student in the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program, and I had a huge imagination. I loved storytelling, building things, and asking endless "why" questions. But I often wondered:
"Why can't “school” be like this every day?" 🤔
I thrived during the moments when school felt exciting, when we did projects, experiments, field trips, and hands-on activities in the GATE program—but those moments were few and far between. I wanted learning to feel like an adventure, not just something to check off a list.
So, when I had my daughter and saw how much she loved to build, draw, and doodle, I knew she needed an education that nurtured her creativity, not one that forced her into a box. But I also noticed something else, she had a hard time sitting still for long periods, just like many kids do. I didn’t want her to spend her days stuck at a desk, forced into a rigid routine that didn’t match how she naturally learned.
That’s when I realized: I could create the kind of learning experience I had always dreamed of.
The Main Reasons I Chose to Homeschool
🌿 Flexibility & Freedom
I wanted the freedom to follow my children’s interests, to learn at our own pace, and to spend our days in a way that felt natural for our family. If we wanted to dive deep into a project, take a spontaneous field trip, or spend an afternoon outside exploring nature, we could—without the constraints of a traditional school schedule.
🎨 A Creative, Hands-On Education
My childhood love for storytelling, experiments, and imaginative play made me realize that education doesn’t have to be boring. In our homeschool, we bring learning to life with:
✔️ Hands-on projects and experiments
✔️ Themed unit studies based on interests (check out our themed lesson plan ENHANCER )
✔️ Music, art, and creative expression
✔️ Building, designing, and crafting
I wanted my kids to experience learning in a way that felt joyful, immersive, and memorable—not just memorization for the sake of tests.
🚶♂️ The Ability to Move & Learn Naturally
Sitting still for hours on end is hard for most people (MYSELF INCLUDED). Instead of forcing my daughter to fit into a system that didn’t match her natural learning style, I built an approach that worked for her:
✔️ Learning throughmovement, play, and real-world experiences
✔️ Taking frequent breaks to explore and create
✔️ Allowing her to express her ideas through drawing and building instead of just writing answers on a worksheet
Homeschooling gave her the freedom to learn in a way that made sense for her.
🌍 A Deep Love for Nature
Our family loves being outside, and I believe that nature is one of the best classrooms.
Whether it’s:
🍃 Studying science through hands-on exploration
🌿 Taking hikes and observing wildlife
🌊 Learning through play at the beach or in the woods
🌞 Simply enjoying the fresh air and sunshine
Homeschooling allows us to spend more time outdoors, incorporating nature into our daily learning. Instead of being stuck inside all day, we can embrace the world around us.
Homeschooling wasn’t just an educational choice—it was a lifestyle choice. It was a decision to:
🌟 Prioritize creativity and exploration
🌟 Follow my children’s natural curiosity
🌟 Create a learning environment that felt alive and inspiring
Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Homeschooling has given us the freedom to learn in a way that honors who we are—and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
